Job Title: Microsoft Solution Architect

Job Description

This role offers the opportunity for an experienced Microsoft Solution Architect to play a key part in a major technology transformation programme within a complex enterprise environment. You will provide independent architecture, design and assurance across a broad Microsoft technology estate, establishing scalable, secure and supportable solutions spanning cloud, identity, collaboration and end-user computing. Microsoft technologies form a core part of the future technology landscape, and you will help shape and guide that landscape from an architectural perspective.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end architecture and technical design across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, ensuring solutions are robust, scalable and aligned with enterprise needs.
  • Define and assure identity and access management solutions using Microsoft Entra ID, focusing on secure and efficient user lifecycle and access control.
  • Support the design of authentication, Single Sign-On and access-management capabilities, ensuring seamless and secure user experiences across applications and services.
  • Provide architectural input across Microsoft Teams, Exchange/Email and the wider Microsoft 365 services, ensuring consistent integration and alignment with collaboration strategies.
  • Support End User Computing (EUC) architecture, including large-scale device deployment requirements and enterprise device management approaches.
  • Review, challenge and validate technical designs produced by third-party technology and implementation partners to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
  • Ensure all proposed solutions align with security, governance and enterprise architecture standards, and contribute to the definition and improvement of those standards where appropriate.
  • Translate complex business and technical requirements into clear, structured architecture and design documentation that can be understood and implemented by delivery teams.
  • Provide architecture assurance during the early stages of implementation, guiding delivery teams and addressing architectural risks, issues and design decisions.

Essential Skills

  • Strong experience working as a Microsoft or Azure Solution Architect within large enterprise environments.
  • Deep understanding of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID, including their integration across a complex technology estate.
  • Strong knowledge of identity, authentication, access management and Single Sign-On (SSO) concepts and practices.
  • experience working across End User Computing and enterprise device environments, including large-scale deployment and management.
  • Proven ability to create and assure both high-level and low-level solution designs, with clear documentation and rationale.
  • Confidence working across multiple technical and business stakeholder groups, with the ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and accessible way.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting major transformation, separation, migration or infrastructure programmes within enterprise organisations.
  • Hands-on exposure to Azure services, Office 365, Entra ID, identity management and EUC technologies.
  • experience collaborating with third-party technology and implementation partners on architecture and design activities.
  • Background in architecture assurance and governance within complex, multi-supplier environments.
