Payroll Consultant

Title: Payroll Consultant - SAP with MS Access/VBA

Location: Newark, NJ (Hybrid: Local 3 days a week onsite, Others Once a month)

Job Description:

The Payroll Consultant will support enterprise payroll systems with a focus on payroll data analysis, tax and wage calculations, validation, and reconciliation. The role involves automating payroll data workflows using MS Access and VBA, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and verifying data accuracy across various payroll platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate strong knowledge of payroll systems with an emphasis on data analysis, reporting, and compliance.
• Support configuration and data extraction for SAP HCM PA, OM, and Payroll modules, or equivalent modules in systems.
• Develop and maintain MS Access databases, queries, forms, reports, and VBA scripts to facilitate payroll analysis, reconciliation, audits, and reporting.
• Use MS Access VBA to automate pre-payroll calculations, parse payroll output files, and clean and format data inputs for mass upload.
• Extract, validate, and analyze HR and payroll data from multiple systems using MS Access.
• Perform payroll calculations, including wages, tax deductions, and retro adjustments, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Validate payroll data with a focus on wage types, tax computations, and statutory reporting requirements.
• Support payroll reconciliation, resolution of discrepancies, and data validation to maintain data integrity.
• Assist with payroll system implementations, data migration, cutover activities, and go-live support.
• Collaborate with technical teams on functional specifications and data integration.
• Generate reports for audits, statutory filings, and compliance using SAP tools and MS Access.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience as a Payroll Consultant, with expertise in payroll configuration, schemas, payroll rules, and data management.
• Strong understanding of payroll processing, tax laws, wage types, and validation techniques across SAP Payroll or similar systems.
• Proficient in MS Access, VBA, database design, queries, data import/export, analysis, and reporting.
• Experience automating payroll calculations, parsing payroll files, and data formatting with MS Access/VBA.
• Skilled in payroll data validation, reconciliation, and audit support.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with HR, Payroll, IT, and business teams.
