Job Description

Job Summary

Edward Jones is seeking an Operations Specialist to support the firm's securities reference data operations. This role will be responsible for ensuring that security reference data is accurately established, validated, reconciled, and maintained so that downstream business functions can reliably use the information for trading, trade confirmations, and other operational processes.

The ideal candidate will have 3–6 years of experience in the financial services industry, with hands-on experience in data validation, reconciliation, and securities/investment products. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills are essential for success in this fast-paced operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute day-to-day operational activities in a fast-paced financial services environment.
  • Validate and reconcile securities/reference data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Support the setup and maintenance of security reference data used by trading, trade confirmation, and other business functions.
  • Research data discrepancies, identify root causes, and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Perform detailed data reviews and investigate exceptions or inconsistencies.
  • Ensure operational processes are completed accurately and within established timelines.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and business partners to resolve data and operational issues.
  • Communicate proactively throughout the day to ensure appropriate team coverage across operational functions.
  • Handle multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Provide high-quality service to internal stakeholders and respond effectively to operational inquiries.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, data quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Follow established procedures, controls, policies, and applicable industry requirements.
  • Prepare operational updates and reports as needed.
  • Maintain awareness of industry practices and developments relevant to securities operations and reference data.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–6 years of professional experience in the financial services industry.
  • Hands-on experience with data validation and reconciliation.
  • Basic knowledge of investment securities and financial products.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and a strong focus on data accuracy.
  • Ability to research discrepancies and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive communicator who can effectively coordinate with team members throughout the day.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred but not required.

Preferred Experience

  • Securities operations or investment operations experience.
  • Experience working with security reference data or financial data.
  • Experience supporting trading, trade processing, trade confirmations, or related operational functions.
  • Experience with data quality, exception management, or reconciliation processes.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated financial services environment.
