Job Description

Imagine being the organised person who helps a growing company run smoothly while you’re still learning the ropes.

At LEX Diagnostics we’re scaling quickly and looking for an Office Administrator who’s organised, reliable, and ready to learn.

You don’t need years of office experience. What matters is that you’re organised, willing to muck in, and happy to pick things up as you go.

Why this role is a good place to start

You’ll support the day to day running of the office and help the team stay on top of the small things that keep everything moving. As we grow, the role can grow with you, more responsibility, more variety, and a chance to build real workplace skills rather than just “helping out.”

What the team is like

We’re a friendly, down to earth bunch. Some days the office is quiet. Other days a delivery turns up and everyone pitches in. It’s varied, collaborative, and not a stuffy corporate environment. You’ll be part of a small team that helps each other out.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll learn and then own the everyday running of the office, including:

  • Welcoming visitors and helping keep the office tidy, organised and easy to work in
  • Being the go to person for small problems,  finding things, chasing things, sorting things
  • Ordering and looking after office supplies and equipment
  • Helping finance and operations with invoices, purchase orders and paperwork
  • Helping plan office events, team get-togethers and celebrations
  • Supporting shipping and supplier paperwork as we work with partners in the UK and overseas
  • Keeping records, folders and simple systems up to date so other people can find what they need
  • Jumping in wherever the team needs an extra pair of hands

You’ll be shown how things work. The job is as much about learning a professional routine as it is about already knowing every system.

What we’re looking for

We’re more interested in attitude than a long CV.

  • Organised, reliable and careful with details
  • Happy to juggle a few tasks at once and ask if you’re not sure
  • Confident enough to speak to people, take messages and help colleagues
  • Willing to learn new systems and processes
  • Flexible,  some days will be quieter admin, some days will be busier and more hands on

Useful but not essential, any admin, reception, retail, customer service, or school/college work experience. GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths are helpful.

This is a full-time, onsite role based at our site in Melbourn near Royston

Why join LEX Diagnostics?

  • Join a company working on faster, more accessible diagnostics
  • Start during a growth phase, so you’ll see how a business actually works
  • Room for the role, and your skills, to develop if you take to it
  • Supportive team that will show you the ropes

Benefits include:

  • Employer pension contribution of 10% (plus 3% personal contribution)
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • £8.50 per day lunch allowance
  • Life insurance
  • 25 days’ annual holiday plus bank holidays
  • Discounts and memberships for local sports facilities and the theatre

If you like being organised, don’t mind a bit of variety, and want a proper office job, then this is a good place to start.
