Senior AI Software Engineer

Calleo is seeking an experienced Senior AI Engineer / Developer to design, build and deploy secure, scalable AI and Generative AI solutions for a major Federal Government program.
You'll work with cutting-edge technologies, including LLMs, MLOps and cloud-native platforms, collaborating with architecture, data science, cyber security and engineering teams to deliver enterprise-scale AI capabilities.
Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise AI, ML and Generative AI solutions.
• Build AI applications, APIs, integrations and automated deployment pipelines.
• Implement MLOps, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Ensure solutions are secure, scalable and compliant with enterprise requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and resolve complex engineering challenges.

Skills & Experience

• Strong Python and software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML, LLMs, Generative AI and MLOps.
• Knowledge of RAG, embeddings, vector databases and AI deployment.
• Experience with containers, cloud platforms, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.
• Strong understanding of APIs, DevSecOps and secure-by-design principles.
• Excellent technical leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience with OpenShift AI, Kubernetes, AWS/Azure and NVIDIA GPUs is highly regarded.
• Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, an Australian Government Baseline security clearance due to the security requirements of the role.
