Project: Medicaid Information Technology Services (MITS)
Location: South Carolina(remote)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Web Developer to design, develop, implement, and maintain complex web applications and backend services for South Carolina s Medicaid Web Portal and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Services.

The developer will work on a major state technology modernization initiative, supporting the migration of existing mainframe Medicaid systems to modern technology platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Java, frontend web development, JavaScript, jQuery, MongoDB, and healthcare EDI transaction sets.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level web applications and backend services.

• Build responsive, platform-independent user interfaces compatible with desktops, smartphones, and tablets.

• Develop Java-based applications using industry-standard frameworks and web technologies.

• Design and implement distributed systems and scalable, highly available web applications.

• Develop and support Medicaid Web Portal and EDI Services functionality.

• Work with healthcare EDI transaction sets, including 270/271, 276/277, and 837.

• Perform unit testing, system testing, debugging, implementation, and production support.

• Develop and maintain database integrations using JDBC, SQL, and MongoDB.

• Work with application servers, messaging systems, Unix environments, and shell scripting.

• Participate in the complete software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design through development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

• Collaborate with business analysts, end users, database administrators, QA engineers, infrastructure teams, and project managers.

• Troubleshoot production issues and implement solutions to improve application performance and reliability.

• Follow software engineering best practices, coding standards, and established development processes.

Required Technical Skills

1. Java: 7+ years of experience.

2. HTML: 7+ years of experience.

3. JavaScript: 7+ years of experience.

4. jQuery: 7+ years of experience.

5. EDI Transaction Sets: 5+ years of experience with 270/271, 276/277, and 837.

6. MongoDB: 5+ years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Medicaid eligibility systems and business operations.

• Experience with Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS).

• Hands-on experience with JDBC and SQL.

• Experience with UC4 job scheduling.

• Experience in healthcare IT, government systems, or large-scale enterprise application development.
