PowerBI/Tableau Platform Administrator

Job Description

The Analytics Platform Administrator will provide day-to-day administration, governance, development support, and customer assistance for the organization's enterprise analytics platforms.

The role will primarily manage the Microsoft Power BI environment and will serve as a backup administrator for the Tableau environment.

The position requires hands-on expertise spanning dashboard development and maintenance as well as tenant architecture, security, performance, governance, and operational support.
Primary Responsibilities
Power BI Platform Administration and Governance
Administer and maintain the organization's Microsoft Power BI tenant, including configuration, security, governance, and operational support.
Manage Power BI workspaces, datasets, dataflows, gateways, capacity settings, tenant settings, and licensing.
Develop and implement governance standards, naming conventions, workspace management processes, and deployment practices.
Monitor platform utilization, performance, reliability, and adoption across the organization.
Identify platform optimization opportunities and recommend improvements to architecture, performance, scalability, and user experience.
Monitor system health and proactively address issues before they affect users.

Customer Support and Training
Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for Power BI and Tableau users.
Troubleshoot report performance issues and implement appropriate optimization techniques.
Assist business users with dashboard publication, dataset refresh issues, access requests, and platform-related questions.
Develop user guides, standards, and training materials.
Deliver training and knowledge-transfer sessions to increase platform adoption and self-service analytics capabilities.

Operational and Vendor Support
Serve as secondary administrator and backup resource for the Tableau platform, cross-training with the primary Tableau administrator to support continuity of platform operations.
Support migration, integration, and governance activities involving both Tableau and Power BI environments.
Support platform upgrades, patches, and service changes.
Coordinate with Microsoft, Tableau, and other vendors as needed to resolve technical issues.
Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and service improvement activities.
Monitor system health and proactively address issues before they affect users.

Required Skills

• 6 years: Experience administering, implementing, or supporting enterprise business intelligence and analytics platforms.
• 5 years: Hands-on experience developing and maintaining Power BI reports, dashboards, datasets, and semantic models.
• 4 years: Experience administering Power BI environments, including tenant settings, workspaces, gateways, security, and governance.
• 3 years: Microsoft Fabric administration, implementation, or platform support.
• 4 years: Experience with problem-solving and troubleshooting reporting, performance, connectivity, and data refresh issues while communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• 6 years: Strong organization and time management skills to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Preferred Skills:

• 2 years: Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud administration, including permissions, governance, content management, or operational support.
• 2 years: Supporting enterprise analytics governance programs, standards, or operating models.
• 3 years: Developing automated reporting, platform administration, or data integration solutions
