Job Overview
Our Sun Prairie, WI client, a leading global insurance organization, seeks a Cyber Security Engineer IV with hands-on Illumio and micro-segmentation experience to support an enterprise-wide security initiative. Analyze network traffic, understand application dependencies, and develop policies for servers, infrastructure, and end-user devices.
Contract: Initial 6 months with potential extension into 2027 | Location: 100% remote considered; Southern Wisconsin preferred | Start: ASAP
What you will be doing…
  1. Analyze network traffic flows, ports, protocols, and application dependencies to determine appropriate security policies.
  2. Design, document, and develop micro-segmentation rules using Illumio for Windows and Linux environments.
  3. Collaborate with application owners, infrastructure teams, and security engineers to clarify communication requirements.
  4. Identify and remediate legacy or overly permissive firewall rules.
  5. Prepare security policies for test and production deployment in coordination with senior engineers.
  6. Manage application assignments through Jira and participate in project meetings and change management activities.
Skills you ideally bring to the table…
Must-have qualifications
  1. Strong Cyber Security Engineering background with network security and firewall expertise.
  2. Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, ports, protocols, network traffic analysis, and stateful firewalls.
  3. Experience writing and implementing network security policies and firewall rules.
  4. Hands-on experience with Illumio and implementing micro-segmentation policies in enterprise environments.
  5. Working knowledge of Windows, Linux, Active Directory, and DNS fundamentals.
  6. Strong analytical, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills.
Highly preferred
  1. Experience expanding micro-segmentation enforcement across servers and end-user devices.
  2. Large enterprise security environment experience.
  3. Familiarity with Jira, Agile/Scrum, and enterprise change management.
Priority: Illumio and hands-on micro-segmentation experience are required, alongside strong networking, traffic analysis, and stateful firewall expertise.
Interview Process
Anticipated single-round video interview with the hiring manager and a senior security engineer. Video participation is required.
