DevOps Tester Senior
Location: McLean, Virginia (On-site)

Role Overview
This organization seeks an experienced professional to support an enterprise data modeling transformation initiative. The selected candidate will perform an independent review of the current process and technology ecosystem supporting data modeling, execute structured manual testing of critical workflows, and develop a practical, phased plan to automate testing and quality gates. This role partners with data modelers, data engineers, platform teams, and data governance stakeholders to improve quality, consistency, and release readiness of data modeling artifacts and related metadata.
Key Responsibilities

• Assess end-to-end data modeling lifecycle processes, including intake, design, review, approval, governance, versioning, publication, change management, and release.
• Evaluate tooling and integrations across data modeling tools, metadata catalogs, version control, continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines, and work management systems.
• Identify process gaps, risks, bottlenecks, and control weaknesses to document findings and prioritized recommendations.
• Create and execute manual test plans and test cases for key workflows, including model creation, standards validation, and model-to-DDL generation.
• Document test evidence, track defects, support triage, and perform retesting activities.
• Define a fit-for-purpose testing strategy for data modeling transformation outcomes focused on quality, governance, velocity, and auditability.
• Identify automation candidates and recommend automation approaches, such as automated standards checks and model regression checks.
• Deliver a phased roadmap containing dependencies, effort estimates, and measurable success criteria.

Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field is preferred.
Experience: Seven or more years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, data modeling, quality assurance, or related roles with a strong testing focus.
Technical Skills: Demonstrated experience testing data, metadata, and modeling workflows. Strong knowledge of data modeling concepts, including entities, relationships, keys, normalization, and dimensional patterns. Proven ability to develop test plans, write test cases, and execute structured manual testing. Hands-on development proficiency with Java or Python, automation testing, artificial intelligence/machine learning fluency, and SQL.
Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise data modeling tools such as ER/Studio, ERwin, SAP PowerDesigner, or Sparx EA.
• Familiarity with metadata, catalog, and governance platforms including Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or Microsoft Purview.
• Experience with CI/CD and automation tooling like GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
• Experience implementing automated quality checks, rules engines, schema validation, and model diffing.
• Familiarity with common enterprise data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
