Job Description

Senior Technical / Agile Project Manager

Experience: 11+ years

Employment type: Full-time(Contract W2)

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Technical Project Manager with a strong Agile background to lead complex, cross-functional software delivery programs. You will own projects end to end, from planning and scoping through delivery and post-release review. You'll work closely with engineering, QA, product, design, and business stakeholders, and you'll be the person who keeps teams aligned, risks visible, and delivery predictable.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery and Execution

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple concurrent technical projects within scope, budget, and timeline
  • Define project charters, roadmaps, milestones, and release plans in partnership with product and engineering leadership
  • Drive Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives) and coach teams on Agile best practices
  • Manage dependencies across teams, vendors, and third-party integrations

Technical Leadership

  • Partner with architects and tech leads to understand system design, technical trade-offs, and technical debt
  • Facilitate technical decision-making and ensure delivery risks tied to architecture, infrastructure, or security are identified early
  • Support CI/CD, DevOps, and release management practices to enable faster, safer deployments

Stakeholder and Risk Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for executives and stakeholders, providing clear status reports, dashboards, and forecasts
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks, blockers, and scope changes
  • Manage budgets, resource allocation, and capacity planning

Team and Process Improvement

  • Mentor and guide junior project managers, Scrum Masters, and team members
  • Track and improve delivery metrics such as velocity, cycle time, burndown, defect rates, and predictability
  • Continuously refine processes, templates, and governance frameworks to improve efficiency and quality
  • Scale Agile practices across teams (SAFe, LeSS, or similar frameworks)

Required Qualifications

  • 11+ years of experience in IT project/program management, with at least 5+ years leading Agile software delivery
  • Proven track record delivering large-scale, complex technical projects (budgets of $X M+ or teams of 20+)
  • Strong understanding of the SDLC, including Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and hybrid/Waterfall models
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, MS Project, or Smartsheet
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform), APIs, microservices, and DevOps/CI-CD concepts
  • Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and executive communication skills
  • Strong skills in risk management, budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM/PSM, SAFe Agilist (SPC), or equivalent certification
  • Master's degree or MBA
  • Experience leading distributed or global teams across time zones
  • Background in a technical role (developer, QA, or architect) before moving into project management
  • Experience with data/analytics, SaaS, fintech, healthcare, or enterprise platforms (tailor to your domain)
  • Familiarity with compliance and security frameworks (SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001) where relevant
