Software Engineer II with Security Clearance

Job Description SALARY RANGE $171,000 - $228,000/year. DUTIES As a successful candidate for the Software Engineer II role, you will develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems-ranging from processing-intensive analytics and novel algorithm development to real-time systems and large-scale data manipulation-based on documented requirements.

Working individually or as part of a team, you will review, test, and document software components to ensure strict adherence to design specifications, resolve software problem reports, and apply methodologies tailored to the development environment. Additionally, you will provide critical input into system design by analyzing system-level requirements, evaluating hardware/software trade-offs, driving software reuse, and assessing COTS/GOTS solutions in place of new development.

Required Skills SKILLS

• Analyze requirements in collaboration with system and hardware engineers to derive software design specifications, performance standards, and interface constraints
• Design, code, and modify complex software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical modeling to meet functional requirements and enable integration into new operating environments
• Develop and optimize complex algorithms tailored to strict timing, system resource, and hardware constraints
• Design and implement database queries, repository interfaces, and data management solutions
• Debug, refactor, and maintain existing software to resolve defects, adapt to new hardware, and optimize system performance
• Formulate and execute test procedures, maintain technical documentation, and champion continuous software development process standards
• Provide team leadership, oversee development projects, conduct quality control reviews, and coordinate system installations to ensure specifications are met

QUALIFICATIONS Candidates must possess at least fourteen (14) years of experience as a software engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity, along with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. An additional four (4) years of software engineering experience on projects utilizing similar software processes may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree.

Additional Requirements

• Practical experience building, configuring, and managing dataflows using Apache NiFi
• Strong software development proficiency in Python and Java
• Hands-on experience with big data processing and data warehousing frameworks, including Apache Spark and Apache Hive
• Experience with source code management and version control tools using Subversion (SVN)
