Job Description

Job Title: Solution Architect III – Duck Creek Platform

Role Type: Direct hire

Overview

Seeking a seasoned Solution Architect with deep Duck Creek expertise to lead architectural decisions across Policy, Billing, Claims, Agency/Distribution, and DMS. The role focuses on designing scalable, maintainable, and strategically aligned software solutions, elevating architectural knowledge across the team, and communicating complex concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

  • Own and articulate bounded contexts across Duck Creek product domains; demonstrate deep ownership of modules (Policy, Billing, Claims, DMS, and Agency/Distribution).
  • Build shared understanding of domain encapsulation, decompose new business concepts into bounded contexts (configurations, rules, integrations).
  • Create and maintain context maps detailing inter-context interactions; design inter-context communication specifications to meet current and future needs.
  • Decide on extending, refactoring, or building new software within Duck Creek across modules; govern decisions with Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).
  • Design and evolve HTTP APIs and messages; establish domain concepts in API resources that mature over time.
  • Produce clear design artifacts (OpenAPI, diagrams, data models) to facilitate implementation and testing.
  • Lead integration patterns with upstream/downstream/core legacy systems via REST/SOAP and Duck Creek Anywhere frameworks; define reusable integration approaches.
  • Define Non-Functional Requirements (performance SLAs, availability, data retention) for Duck Creek-hosted services; validate solutions meet targets.
  • Elevate enterprise communication about technology strategy; translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Champion product-domain capabilities to stakeholders and other teams; influence product decisions with technical insight.
  • Mature architectural thinking: evaluate trade-offs (speed, debt, cost, complexity) and document rationale.
  • Educate teams on Duck Creek design principles; drive platform knowledge growth across IT.
  • Establish standardized integration patterns and maturity metrics; guide when to configure within Duck Creek vs extend with custom code or adjacent tools.
  • Manage multiple initiatives with competing priorities; provide clear, timely guidance.

What You Bring

  • Excellent communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to varied audiences; proficient at creating visual artifacts showing context, design, and alignment.
  • Broad software development experience across languages, deployment, persistence, and architectural patterns; solid API design knowledge (HTTP, REST/RPC, data movement, integration patterns).
  • Deep Duck Creek platform expertise: product configuration, rating logic, underwriting forms, statutory reporting; hands-on with Author, Express, Server, Product Studio; Azure Duck Creek OnDemand experience; familiarity with AMI and cross-module patterns.
  • Track record in senior/lead roles, collaborating across teams, influencing decisions, driving end-to-end initiatives.
  • Strong problem-discovery mindset; bias toward actionable solutions.
  • Nice-to-have: Domain-Driven Design familiarity, C4 modeling, .NET development, OpenAPI API documentation, vendor collaboration.
