We are seeking a driven and highly skilled DevSecOps (DSO) Engineer to join our team of trusted advisors and innovators supporting the Department of the Air Force. In this key role, you'll use your expertise in DevSecOps, platforms, and cloud technologies to design, implement, and maintain the tools and systems that directly power critical national defense missions. The work you do will ensure agility, speed, and security for some of the most challenging operational environments facing our nation.
This position offers a hybrid work model, combining remote flexibility with onsite collaboration at our Rosslyn, VA, location, which will be transitioning to Crystal City - placing you at the heart of innovation in national security.
Your Role: Empowering Agile, Secure, and Reliable Defense Systems
As a DevSecOps Engineer, your work will be the backbone of deploying, maintaining, and securing cloud platforms that enable the delivery of mission-critical capabilities. Your responsibilities will include:
Engineering Modern Cloud Solutions: Design, deploy, and maintain secure cloud products and services that empower development teams to innovate efficiently.
Strengthening Security Posture: Implement security automation tools and drive the development of pipelines that proactively mitigate risk in cloud-based platforms.
Implementing CI/CD Excellence: Develop, manage, and optimize continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) processes using tools such as GitLab and Bitbucket for seamless, automatic delivery.
Infrastructure Automation: Write, build, and deploy scripts and infrastructure as code (IaC) to create highly reliable, scalable cloud environments.
Streamlining Agile DevOps Practices: Collaborate with software developers, production support teams, and cybersecurity experts to apply Agile and DevOps methods that enhance team productivity.
Championing Efficiency and Innovation: Identify automation opportunities, develop tooling to support increased pipeline efficiency, and facilitate streamlined product delivery cycles.
Revolutionizing Legacy Systems: Work on next-gen AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and cross-domain solutions to transform legacy systems into cutting-edge cloud-based architectures.
Supporting Every Phase of the SDLC: Ensure development pipelines, staging, test, and production environments are secure, scalable, and operationally efficient - driving product reliability and mission success.
Qualifications
We're looking for resourceful, motivated professionals passionate about cloud platforms, automation, and secure systems operations.
Your Experience Should Include:

A bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) and 9+ years of relevant expertise (or a Master's degree and 7+ years, or a Ph.D. with 4+ years).
A proven track record in fast-paced DevOps/DevSecOps environments, particularly in:
CI/CD development and deployment using GitLab and Bitbucket.
Security automation for cloud platforms, ensuring infrastructure meets hardened configurations.
Cloud platforms such as CloudOne One, AWS, or similar ecosystems.
Management of container workloads through tools like Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, and Podman.
Developing Agile software solutions with Scrum, Kanban, and collaboration tools (e.g., Atlassian Jira, Confluence).
Securing multi-level security networks (MILS/MLS) and integrating cross-domain solutions.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
Expertise in end-to-end pipeline development, from securing code repositories to ensuring smooth release management.
Deep familiarity with security practices for cloud-based platforms.
Demonstrated ability to integrate infrastructure automation with operational best practices.
Industry-standard certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, CISSP, CCSP, or Security+).
