Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior API Engineer to support an enterprise API security remediation and platform modernization initiative. This role involves securing REST APIs, modernizing the Java stack, implementing authentication and authorization controls, and delivering production-ready changes with supporting technical validation and documentation for four separate Java application repositories. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated hands-on modernization and security expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
Experience: 5+ years of enterprise API/backend engineering experience is preferred.
Technical Skills:
The delivery team includes an Engagement Manager, API Architect, and API Engineer(s). This role requires strong ownership, clear communication, collaboration across security and platform teams, disciplined risk escalation, documentation, adaptability, and attention to production quality.

Sr. API Engineer

Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior API Engineer to support an enterprise API security remediation and platform modernization initiative. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated hands-on modernization and security expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess existing repositories and Jira stories; develop and secure REST APIs; configure OAuth 2.0, JWT roles, scopes, and claims.
- Upgrade applications sequentially through the required modernization path: Gradle 8.x, Spring Boot 3.5.x, Java 21, and then Gradle 9.x.
- Resolve compatibility issues related to framework, library, and dependency upgrades.
- Update OpenAPI 3 specifications and deprecate legacy API endpoints.
- Implement application logging and SIEM integration.
- Develop and maintain automated unit, integration, and API security tests.
- Resolve defects discovered during testing and deployment validation.
- Participate in standups, document implementation evidence, and support deployment and hypercare activities.

Technical Skills:
- Advanced Java 17/21, Spring Boot 3.x, and Gradle experience, including major-version upgrades and dependency remediation.
- Advanced Spring Security with hands-on OAuth 2.0, JWT scopes/roles/claims, and secure REST API development.
- OpenAPI 3/Swagger expertise plus strong automated unit, integration, and API security testing experience.
- Experience working with Git-based source control and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex application, dependency, and integration issues.
- Experience with Okta or comparable enterprise Identity Provider, including API configuration across QA and production environments.
- Experience with SIEM integration, structured security-event logging, and enterprise logging SDKs.
- Experience with Harness, Anypoint/API gateway, Flyway, JaCoCo, DNS/load-balancer coordination, and production deployments.
