Principal Technical Program Manager, Search

Amazon is seeking a Principal Technical Program Manager to lead high-impact initiatives for Amazon Search in our Retail business. In this role, you will define and drive complex, cross-functional programs that enhance search relevance, performance, and customer experience at global scale. You will partner with engineering, data science, and product teams to set roadmaps, manage risks, and deliver innovative search capabilities. You'll leverage data, experimentation, and deep technical understanding to influence senior leaders, improve mechanisms, and mentor TPMs in a fast-moving, high-ownership culture.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the roadmap for Amazon Search, aligning with customer-obsessed business goals across Retail and AWS stakeholders.
• Lead large, cross-functional programs from concept through launch, coordinating engineering, data science, product, and UX teams.
• Define program scope, requirements, and success metrics using data-driven insights and customer feedback.
• Create and manage detailed program plans, dependencies, and risks, ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery at global scale.
• Collaborate with senior leaders to prioritize investments, influence strategy, and secure alignment and resources.
• Establish and improve technical program management processes, mechanisms, and best practices across Search teams.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable communication for executives and non-technical partners.
• Use experimentation, A/B testing, and metrics to evaluate outcomes and drive continuous improvement in Search relevance and performance.
• Mentor TPMs and engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and operational excellence.
• Ensure security, reliability, and compliance standards are met for Search services operating at massive scale.
