W2 Contract

Pay Rate: $60 - $70 per hour

Location: Cupertino, CA - Remote Role

Job Summary:

We are looking for a strong Senior Software Engineer with experience in data engineering concepts to support our data platform initiatives. This role is best suited for someone who has solid backend engineering fundamentals and can work independently on data-related systems, pipelines, and services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and data platform components.


• Develop and support data ingestion pipelines, ETL workflows, and metadata processing jobs.


• Work with large-scale data systems and distributed processing frameworks.


• Troubleshoot pipeline, service, and data flow issues across production systems.


• Collaborate with engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver reliable solutions.


• Own tasks end-to-end, including implementation, testing, documentation, and handoff.


• Support existing systems written in Scala while contributing in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.


• Participate in system design discussions and help improve platform reliability and scalability.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and system design.


• Hands-on backend development experience in one or more languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.


• Understanding of data engineering concepts, including:

  • Data ingestion
  
  
  • Metadata processing
  
  
  • Batch or distributed data processing
  
  
  
  


• Experience with tools or frameworks such as PySpark, Spark, Databricks, or similar technologies.


• Ability to debug complex backend or pipeline issues.


• Strong ownership mindset and ability to work with minimal direction.


• Good documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with Scala-based systems.


• Familiarity with data platform products, registry services, or metadata platforms.


• Experience with cloud-based data platforms or distributed systems.


• Prior experience supporting production systems or business-hours on-call rotation.


• Experience working in fast-moving engineering environments.
