Full Stack Software Developer III (Hybrid)

RESPONSIBILITIES

A client with Kforce is seeking a Full Stack Software Developer III to join their team. This role will be onsite in San Diego, 3 days a week - not available for remote.

Summary

Threat Reporting Experience (TRE) owns the front door for Threat Operations: the web portals and AI assistants that route security findings to the right owner and surface decision-grade insight for leaders. This is a temporary contingent role providing backfill engineering support for TRE during a staffing gap, working alongside the team's engineers on the same FY27 roadmap.
What you'll do:

• Contribute full-stack features (React front end, Python back end) to the unified Threat Ops portal, including migrating existing onboarding and request forms onto the platform's product catalog
• Help build and expose platform capabilities via the team's Threat Ops MCP standard, supporting natural-language query access through the team's AI assistants
• Contribute to the Threat Ops Defect Hub, replacing the legacy Slack-based publishing workflow with a templated reporter flow (create, risk-score, validate, submit) and Jira integration
• Support the team's dashboard and metrics work, surfacing posture data such as false-positive rate, AI investigation coverage, and request volume from existing data sources
• Participate in code reviews and follow the team's Git-based workflow and coding standards
• Debug and resolve defects, and support deployment and maintenance of the services you touch
• Collaborate with TRE engineers and Threat Ops stakeholders to turn well-scoped tickets into shipped, customer-facing improvements with minimal ramp-up time

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience; Demonstrated full-stack delivery experience carries more weight than credentials
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design and fundamental programming concepts
• Professional experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and React (HTML/CSS, responsive UI)
• Professional backend development experience in Python
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and Git-based code review workflows
• Ability to work independently on well-scoped tasks with minimal onboarding time; This is a backfill role supporting an existing team's roadmap, not a multi-month ramp-up position
• Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of delivering on assigned tasks
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Nice to haves:

• Experience with AI/LLM-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor) for building or maintaining AI assistants
• Knowledge of AWS or other cloud computing services
• Prior exposure to cybersecurity concepts. Not required, but useful given the domain
• Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol) or similar tool-exposure standards for AI agents

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
