AI Developer grade IV/Principal AI Engineer.

Duration:12months Location: Remote preferred; onsite options in Juno Beach, FL or St. Paul, MN

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced AI Developer IV / Principal AI Engineer to provide technical vision, architectural leadership, and hands-on development expertise for enterprise-scale AI initiatives.

This is a principal-level position combining AI architecture, software engineering, cloud-native development, distributed systems, and technical leadership.

The engineer will define enterprise AI architecture, establish technical standards, lead complex AI transformations, and remain actively involved in production software development.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and lead enterprise-wide AI architecture strategy.
• Design, build, and deploy scalable AI-powered applications and distributed systems.
• Provide technical leadership for large-scale AI transformation programs.
• Write production-quality software and remain hands-on with development.
• Work with engineering, product, research, and business stakeholders.
• Establish AI governance, security standards, best practices, and responsible-AI frameworks.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend strategic investments.
• Mentor senior engineers and develop technical leadership within engineering teams.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted software development tools and practices.
• Guide architectural decisions involving cloud platforms, AI services, and enterprise data ecosystems.
• Lead technical design reviews and influence enterprise engineering standards.
• Support multiple project teams operating on quarterly delivery cycles.

Team Environment

The position works within cross-functional teams that may include:

Typical project teams consist of approximately 1 5 engineers and operate using an Agile quarterly planning and delivery model. The environment emphasizes AI-first software engineering and AI-assisted development.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
• 15+ years of software engineering experience.
• Extensive experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale AI solutions.
• Expert-level Python development.
• Experience building scalable distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML technologies and modern software architecture.
• Experience designing cloud-native applications using AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
• Strong Infrastructure-as-Code experience, particularly Terraform.
• Experience leading major technical programs and influencing technology strategy.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
