Job Description

HR Manager

East Yorkshire | Full Time | Office Based

Are you the type of HR professional who believes people come before process?

We're supporting a growing, owner-led business with the appointment of a HR Manager . This is a newly created role with the opportunity to build and shape the people function from the ground up.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll have the autonomy to influence culture, employee engagement, recruitment, learning & development and the overall employee experience, whilst ensuring the business continues to operate with robust HR processes and best practice.

This is far more than a traditional HR role. We're looking for someone who enjoys being visible within the business, builds trusted relationships and genuinely wants to create an environment where people enjoy coming to work.

The Role

  • Lead the full people agenda across the business.
  • Develop and embed a positive, engaging company culture.
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment and deliver an outstanding candidate experience.
  • Build onboarding programmes that set new starters up for success.
  • Partner with managers to coach, develop and support their teams.
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives, internal communications and wellbeing activities.
  • Manage all HR administration, employee relations and employment law compliance.
  • Develop learning and development initiatives that help individuals and the business grow.
  • Promote as an employer of choice through employer branding and recruitment activity.

About You

You'll already have broad HR generalist experience and enjoy balancing the commercial needs of the business with a genuine passion for people.

We're particularly interested in speaking with individuals who can demonstrate:

  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • A positive, approachable and engaging personality.
  • Experience managing employee relations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Confidence supporting managers and influencing stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • CIPD qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience working within an SME or owner-managed business would be advantageous.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join a business where people genuinely matter.

You'll work directly with the Managing Director, have the autonomy to shape the people agenda and leave a lasting impact on the culture, engagement and future success of the business.

If you're looking for a role where you can make a real difference rather than simply maintain HR processes, we'd love to hear from you.
