Job Description

NERC Consultant

Seeking a Senior Compliance Consultant to support its Electric Compliance organization. This role is ideal for candidates with a utility engineering or electric operations background who have experience in regulatory compliance, policy implementation, and cross-functional program support.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and analyze regulatory changes and industry requirements impacting electric operations
  • Support compliance programs, policy implementation, and process improvements
  • Maintain compliance documentation, requirement inventories, and tracking tools
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, Regulatory Affairs, and Legal teams to drive compliance initiatives
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, presentations, and regulatory response materials
  • Monitor compliance metrics, action items, and implementation progress
  • Support audits, investigations, and continuous improvement efforts

Requirements:

  • Bachelor''''s degree in Engineering, Business, Public Policy, or a related field (or equivalent utility industry experience)
  • 3-5 years of experience in utility compliance, regulatory, engineering, operations, risk, or analytical roles
  • Strong understanding of compliance processes, documentation, and regulatory analysis
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience collaborating across multiple business functions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Utility engineering or electric operations experience (highly preferred)
  • NERC compliance experience (Operations & Planning)
  • Experience with regulatory policy implementation and program management
  • Background in process improvement, controls, compliance metrics, or operational efficiency
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Note: Candidates must be local to the Oakland or Sacramento area and able to work onsite three days per week.
