Summary of job responsibilities

  • Works with the manager to administer retirement and absence management programs for full and part-time employees. 30%
  • Draft, edit and distribute benefits education and communication materials, and documents administrative procedures and processes.  25%
  • Addresses enrollment questions, educating participants about plan details and provisions, and handling case inquiries. 15%
  • Serves as a key contact with carriers and third-party administrators, responding to benefits inquiries from participants relating to status changes, plan provisions, and other general inquiries. 10%
  • Supports eligibility and enrollment processes through data entry, reporting, and periodic audits to maintain data integrity. Serve as back-up support for carrier file transmissions, vendor billing, and post-payroll funding processes. 10%
  • Analyzes and reconciles Human Resources (HR) and benefit data to ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable regulatory requirements. 10%
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.

 Required skill set

  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in HR, business administration, or related field.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in benefit administration and absence management.

Position requirements

  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, and other laws affecting benefit and absence programs, including ACA, FMLA, COBRA, ADA, and Section 125.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability develop and deliver effective presentations.
  • Strong organizational and excellent interpersonal skills and have a "Customer Focus" attitude and delivery.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Skilled in project management, problem-solving, analysis, follow-through, influence, and persuasion.
  • Ability to use affective judgment and related methodology.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships and work as an individual contributor and an effective collaborator, in addition to being self-directed and forward-thinking.
  • Ability to set priorities and organize work to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Ability to manage confidential employee information with discretion and good judgement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint
