Sinai Hospital of Baltimore - Maryland's largest community hospital with 483 beds - is a nonprofit teaching hospital affiliated with George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences, providing training for over 140 residents and 400 medical students annually.

Northwest Hospital, located in Baltimore County, is a 254-bed institution that has served the northwest Baltimore community for over five decades. The Department of Medicine is seeking an experienced and collaborative Pulmonary & Critical Care physician to join Sinai Pulmonology Associates and serve as Medical Director of Pulmonary. This role combines a clinical practice - inpatient pulmonary coverage, outpatient visits, and bronchoscopy - with physician leadership of a growing pulmonary program. The Medical Director will work closely with hospital and medical staff leadership, nursing, respiratory therapy, and other clinical services to advance the quality, efficiency, and scope of pulmonary and critical care services.

Combination of hospital consults, outpatient medicine, bronchoscopy

EBUS Bronchoscopy, and thoracentesis available, if desired

Medical Director - Key Leadership Responsibilities

Provide clinical leadership for the Pulmonary Medicine program

Develop and implement strategic plans to strengthen pulmonary services and improve access to care

Promote evidence-based, high-quality care for patients

Collaborate with hospital leadership on quality, safety, patient experience, and clinical outcomes Develop and monitor programmatic quality metrics and performance improvement initiatives

Recruit, retain, and engage pulmonary and critical care physicians and advanced practice providers

Foster strong relationships with primary care, hospital medicine, emergency medicine, cardiology, oncology, thoracic surgery, and other referring specialties

Develop outpatient pulmonary services, including lung nodule, COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, sleep medicine, and other specialty programs as appropriate

Support the development of inpatient pulmonary consultation services and critical care capabilities

Work collaboratively with ICU leadership to optimize multidisciplinary critical care delivery

Participate in medical staff committees and represent Pulmonary Medicine in hospital leadership forums

Promote appropriate utilization of diagnostic testing, procedures, and other pulmonary resources

Establish protocols and pathways that improve care coordination and reduce unnecessary variation

Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and integration with the broader health system

Core Clinical Responsibilities

Provide outpatient care and inpatient consults

Supervise and teach residents and medical students, and participate in physician education

Collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), nurses, and interdisciplinary teams

Participate in quality improvement, peer review, and clinical governance

Stay current with clinical guidelines, research, and emerging technologies

Minimum Qualifications

MD or DO from an accredited medical school Completion of Pulmonology Fellowship

Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pulmonology; Critical Care certification preferred

Eligible for or currently hold an unrestricted Maryland Medical License

Active DEA and CDS licenses

BLS and ACLS certifications

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environmen
