  • Duration: Long term contract projected until 9/30/27 with potential to extend or convert dependent on business need. At the time of hire, the candidate must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship from the State of Michigan

  • Bachelor's degree required. Foreign degrees will be accepted if evaluated as equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree.

  • Interview Process: In-person. 1-2 rounds. Candidates MUST be able to come on-site for the first and potential 2nd interview

  • Hybrid work schedule (non-negotiable): Position will be hybrid, in office 2 days a week upon start. Wednesdays and Thursdays are required on-site days and cannot be altered.

  • Candidates MUST be local to Lansing, Michigan area (within 90 miles) at time of submission. This requirement is non-negotiable

  • Candidates must meet all these requirements from the beginning (non negotiable)

Description

The candidate will serve as a GIS Analyst supporting multiple highly complex applications primarily for the Department of Environment, Great Lake, and Energy (EGLE) They will collaborate with the development providing advice and guidance, as needed, to development staff while working closely with Project Managers to ensure project quality, milestones, and deadlines are met. They will develop solutions and streamline spatial data needs through the maintenance and modification of existing web, client server, or mobile applications. Additional application development support to address needs of the DNR, EGLE, and MDARD Application Development section may be assigned as needed.

They must adhere to the standards set forth by the Department of Technology Management and Budget (DTMB), and the Client. Develop or approve plans for testing and implementation of web-based, client/server, mobile or data system applications. Evaluate the impact of new technology, recommend solutions to persistent problems, and serve as Customer Service liaison to the client and external consultants. Keep current with changing IT technologies through continuous learning. Support applications that exist on a wide variety of platforms including, but not limited to, PC-based, Web-based, and Mobile. Legacy application development and maintenance may require knowledge of other platforms.
