Job Description:

Position Overview

We are seeking a Process Engineer to support manufacturing operations at a facility producing PVC fitting covers and jacketing used with pipe insulation products.

This is a critical engineering role focused on daily production operations, process stability, equipment efficiency, troubleshooting, product quality, and continuous improvement.

The Process Engineer will provide technical leadership for manufacturing processes and drive improvements in production output, material and energy usage, product quality, and overall process efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and support for manufacturing processes and production operations.
  • Troubleshoot production and process-related issues and identify root causes.
  • Drive improvements in process efficiency, product quality, and manufacturing costs.
  • Monitor and optimize manufacturing processes to achieve production and quality targets.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce material and energy consumption.
  • Lead process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze production and process data to identify trends, problems, and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement process improvements using data-driven methodologies.
  • Support equipment efficiency and process stability.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to leverage technical expertise and implement technical solutions.
  • Lead key engineering and process improvement projects from identification through successful completion.
  • Utilize Design of Experiments (DOE) for process improvement where applicable.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, engineering, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Set priorities and provide technical direction to team members or project teams.
  • Manage multiple projects and ensure milestones and objectives are achieved.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, management, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement and innovation across the manufacturing facility.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial continuous process manufacturing.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Strong analytical skills, including complex data analysis.
  • Experience with process optimization and continuous improvement.
  • Experience with DOE (Design of Experiments) for process improvement.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects through successful completion.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to make timely and effective decisions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred / Plus Qualifications

  • Experience in plastics manufacturing and/or extrusion manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.
  • Experience with SAP is a plus.
  • Experience working directly with vendors on technical solutions.
  • Strong background in continuous manufacturing processes.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a Process Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Process Improvement Engineer, or Industrial Engineer with experience in a continuous manufacturing environment.

Candidates with experience in plastics, extrusion, building materials, chemical processing, or other continuous-process manufacturing industries would be especially relevant.

The candidate should be hands-on, analytical, technically strong, and comfortable troubleshooting production issues while simultaneously driving long-term process improvements.
