The Opportunity

We're working with an established and growing UK business that is looking to appoint a senior data analytics engineer to take ownership of its modern data platform and help shape the next stage of its data journey.

The business has made significant investment in its technology and data infrastructure, creating an opportunity for someone to build on those foundations, improve existing capabilities and have a genuine influence on how data is used across the organisation.

This is a hands-on position, ideally suited to someone who enjoys getting involved in the engineering while also having the freedom to influence architecture.

What You'll Be Doing

• Take technical ownership of the Microsoft Fabric environment, helping shape its ongoing development, architecture and roadmap.

• Design, develop and optimise data pipelines, lakehouse and warehouse solutions to support reliable data delivery.

• Build and maintain scalable data models, semantic layers and reporting solutions.

• Work extensively with SQL, Python and the wider Microsoft data ecosystem.

• Develop and enhance Power BI reporting to provide meaningful insights to stakeholders across the business.

• Introduce and maintain engineering best practices around Git, version control, CI/CD and deployment processes.

• Work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective data solutions.

• Provide technical guidance, support solution design and help resolve more complex engineering challenges.

• Explore opportunities to introduce AI and automation to improve data accessibility, efficiency and analytics capabilities.

What We're Looking For

We're keen to speak with experienced data engineers or analytics engineers who have a strong technical background and are comfortable taking ownership of modern data solutions.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Strong experience working with Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure data technologies.

• Advanced SQL skills, including data transformation, modelling and query optimisation.

• Experience using Python for data engineering and automation.

• Good understanding of lakehouse and data warehouse architectures.

• Experience developing and maintaining data pipelines and orchestration processes.

• Knowledge of Power BI, including semantic models, DAX and reporting.

• Experience with Git, CI/CD and modern software engineering practices.

• An understanding of data governance, security, quality and platform performance.

• Confidence working independently, making technical decisions and communicating with stakeholders.

• Exposure to Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks or other Microsoft data services.

• An interest in AI, automation and emerging technologies within data engineering.
