Senior iOS Test Automation Engineer / XCUI Framework Owner

Job Description

Southwest Airlines is seeking a Senior iOS Test Automation Engineer to own, develop, and enhance the XCUI automation framework for native iOS applications. The ideal candidate will have strong Swift programming skills, deep experience with XCUITest, and the ability to build custom automation tools, optimize framework performance, and integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and enhance the XCUI/XCUITest automation framework for native iOS applications.
• Develop custom automation tools, reusable libraries, and test utilities using Swift and Python.
• Integrate automated testing into GitLab CI/CD pipelines using Fastlane.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues directly within the iOS application codebase.
• Support automated device testing using AWS Device Farm.
• Collaborate with Android engineers using Espresso to align cross-platform automation improvements.
• Champion accessibility standards, code quality, framework scalability, and engineering best practices.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to mobile engineering teams.

Required Skills

• Strong proficiency in Swift and native iOS development.
• Hands-on experience with Xcode, XCTest, and XCUITest/XCUIAutomation.
• Experience owning or extending automation frameworks.
• Proficiency in Fastlane, Python, GitLab CI/CD, and Git.
• Experience with CI/CD integration and automated test execution.

Preferred Skills

• AWS Device Farm experience.
• Familiarity with Android Espresso.
• Knowledge of Apple accessibility standards and APIs.
• Experience with JIRA and Confluence.
• Strong technical leadership and cross-functional communication skills.
