The Role

We are seeking an experienced MUMPS Developer to design, develop, maintain, and enhance applications built using the MUMPS (Massachusetts General Hospital Utility Multi-Programming System) programming language. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with MUMPS development, database management, legacy application modernization, and system integration. Experience in healthcare or financial services environments is preferred. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot technical issues, optimize application performance, support existing systems, and deliver reliable software solutions.

Pay Rate Transparency

Pay Range: $75 $85 / annum. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).

What You'll Do

• Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using MUMPS programming.
• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into effective software solutions.
• Write, test, debug, and optimize MUMPS routines and application code.
• Maintain and troubleshoot legacy systems and resolve production issues.
• Work with MUMPS-based databases and data structures to ensure data integrity and performance.
• Integrate MUMPS applications with external systems, APIs, and enterprise applications where required.
• Collaborate with business analysts, developers, QA teams, and other stakeholders.
• Perform code reviews, unit testing, system testing, and technical documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve application performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Support system upgrades, data migration, and legacy application modernization initiatives.

What You Bring

• 6-50 years of experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining applications using MUMPS.
• Strong understanding of MUMPS programming concepts, routines, globals, and database structures.
• Experience debugging, troubleshooting, and optimizing existing applications.
• Knowledge of database management, data processing, and application integration.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with distributed technical teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with GT.M, YottaDB, or InterSystems IRIS/Cach , as applicable to the project environment.
• Experience working with legacy application modernization and system migration.
• Familiarity with healthcare information systems or financial services applications.
• Experience with UNIX/Linux environments, shell scripting, and batch processing.
• Knowledge of APIs, system integrations, and data exchange processes.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and software testing practices.
