Job Description

Business Analyst, Supply Chain and Manufacturing

6-  9 Months Contract – possible extension

Location:    Vienna, VA / Livonia, MI

Job description:

Needs Business Analyst, Supply Chain and Manufacturing ,  Supply Chain and Manufacturing, This person builds operational compliance dashboards on warehouse management data for a client.

 About this role -

  • Our client, a large fresh produce grower and distributor, runs its distribution centres on an in-house warehouse management system.
  • Most inventory problems across its network come from warehouse transactions not being recorded the way the process requires.
  • Every movement, adjustment, count and exception in the system is already stamped with the user and the time.
  • You will turn that data into a compliance reporting layer that shows whether people transact as the process requires, at four levels: user, shift, distribution centre and enterprise.
  • The work starts with discovery, so you will help define the metrics, not just build them.

Examples of what you will measure:

  • Stock shipped or consumed without a scan, and receipts or production output left waiting for putaway
  • Inventory count accuracy, adjustment rates and variances traced to the users who last touched a location
  • Lot rotation (FEFO / FIFO), hold compliance and un-pick rates
  • Scanner productivity, dock-to-stock time and DC compliance scorecards ranked across the network
  • The engagement is delivered from a capped bucket of hours: discovery, data profiling, data model, dashboards, validation and handover.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Run discovery workshops with operations leadership, Distribution Center (DC) managers, inventory control, food safety and finance. Turn them into a signed-off metric catalogue with definitions, thresholds, targets and audiences.
  • Profile warehouse data across live sites (inventory ledger, movements, counts, discrepancies, in-process logs) and write a data readiness report that flags gaps.
  • Design and build a dimensional reporting model with conformed user, shift, site, item, lot, location and transaction-type dimensions.
  • Build Power BI dashboards and reports: supervisor views by user and shift, DC scorecards, an enterprise roll-up, and exception lists that drill down to the individual transaction.
  • Write performant SQL for metrics with time windows, aging and ratios (for example, quantity auto-created as a share of quantity shipped).
  • Set up refresh, row-level security and workspace deployment on the client's reporting platform.
  • Validate the numbers with Distribution Center (DC) operations, tune thresholds and support user acceptance testing.
  • Hand over metric definitions, technical documentation and training for supervisors and managers.
  • Report progress and hours burned against the agreed bucket to the ESF Delivery Manager each week.

 Required skills and experience

  • 10+ years of professional experience, including 6+ years in data, reporting or analytics in supply chain and manufacturing domain
  • 3+ years building data solutions
  • Strong SQL: complex joins, window functions, query tuning
  • Dimensional modelling (star schemas, conformed dimensions, slowly changing dimensions)
  • Has led requirements or KPI-definition workshops with business users and turned them into signed-off metric definitions
  • Experience with operational or transactional data, ideally warehouse, supply chain, manufacturing or retail
  • Clear written and spoken English for working directly with US and Canadian operations stakeholders

 Nice to have

  • Warehouse management system data (Blue Yonder / JDA, Manhattan, SAP EWM or a custom WMS): receiving, putaway, picking, cycle counts, adjustments, holds
  • Familiarity with distribution center KPIs such as dock-to-stock time, inventory record accuracy and order picking accuracy (for example, WERC DC Measures)
  • Food or fresh produce supply chain, including lot traceability (FEFO / FIFO, FSMA 204)
  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV / Business Central data
  • Power BI or Fabric
  • Microsoft certifications: PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst) or DP-600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer)
