Job Description

Position:  Automation Test Engineer
Duration: Long term contract
Location: Pittsburgh PA  (On-site)

Must have Banking/financial services domain experience
 
Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Automation Test Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Selenium and Cucumber (BDD framework) to design, build, and maintain automated test suites for enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will ensure application quality, reliability, and performance through robust test automation strategies. Experience in the banking/financial services domain is a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium WebDriver and Cucumber (BDD) frameworks
  • Write and maintain Gherkin feature files in collaboration with business analysts, developers, and QA teams
  • Build and enhance test automation frameworks (Page Object Model, hybrid frameworks) for web-based applications
  • Execute functional, regression, smoke, and integration test suites across multiple environments
  • Identify, log, and track defects using tools such as JIRA, ensuring clear reproduction steps and root cause analysis
  • Collaborate with developers and business analysts to understand requirements and translate them into test scenarios and acceptance criteria
  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI) for continuous testing
  • Perform API testing using tools such as Postman, RestAssured, or SoapUI
  • Conduct cross-browser and cross-platform testing to ensure application compatibility
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
  • Prepare test plans, test cases, and test execution reports for stakeholders
  • Support UAT, regression, and production validation testing cycles
  • Ensure compliance with data security, quality, and (where applicable) regulatory standards
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 7-10 years of hands-on experience in test automation
  • Strong proficiency in Selenium WebDriver with Java, Python, or a similar programming language
  • Strong hands-on experience with Cucumber/BDD framework and Gherkin syntax
  • Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (JIRA, TestRail, ALM/Quality Center)
  • Solid understanding of QA methodologies, SDLC, and STLC
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD integration
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
  • Banking/financial services domain experience is a strong plus (e.g., core banking, payments, lending, credit cards, fraud/risk systems, or trading platforms)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with API automation tools (RestAssured, Postman, SoapUI)
  • Familiarity with performance testing tools (JMeter, LoadRunner)
  • Exposure to cloud-based testing platforms (BrowserStack, Sauce Labs)
  • Knowledge of database testing and SQL query writing
  • ISTQB or equivalent QA/testing certification
  • Experience working in regulated, high-compliance, or mission-critical environments
