The Role

• Interpret engineering drawings, mark off materials, and prepare plate using cutting and grinding methods.
• Assemble ship structures, ensuring accurate fitting, fairing, and tack-welding of components.
• Fabricate various ship items including seats, ladders, flooring, panels, and watertight doors.
• Form materials using machine tools like rolling, flanging, and cutting equipment.
• Operate oxy-fuel and/or plasma cutting equipment confidently and responsibly.
• Follow safety, health, environment (SHE) principles and risk-assessment requirements.

What You'll Need

• Modern Apprenticeship certificate or Trade Papers, plus relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g., SVQ3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
• Up-to-date fabrication knowledge and hands-on experience in construction or manufacturing environments.
• Understanding and application of core manufacturing processes and tack welding standards.
• Experience operating oxy-fuel and/or plasma cutting equipment.
• Experience working safely in confined spaces or at height with relevant safety certifications.
• Ability to attend a recruitment day.
