Job Description

HCL is looking for motivated fresh graduates or early‑career professionals who are interested in building a career in Software Asset Management (SAM), IT Asset Management (ITAM), and License Compliance. This role focuses on supporting SAM operations, learning licensing models, and assisting senior consultants in delivering cost optimization and compliance outcomes for enterprise customers.

Key Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Support day-to-day Software Asset Management operations under guidance of senior SAM consultants.
  • \n
  • Assist in maintaining accurate software inventory and entitlement records.
  • \n
  • Support license compliance checks and basic reconciliation activities.
  • \n
  • Assist in identifying license usage gaps and optimization opportunities using defined SAM processes.
  • \n
  • Learn and follow SAM best practices and industry standards (ISO 19770 – awareness level).
  • \n
  • Support data collection and validation for:
  • \n
  • Software entitlements
  • \n
  • Usage data
  • \n
  • Contract and renewal information
  • \n
  • Assist in software contract reviews to understand licensing terms and conditions.
  • \n
  • Support SAM activities for:
  • \n
  • Enterprise applications (e.g., Microsoft, Adobe – exposure level)
  • \n
  • Cloud and SaaS environments (basic understanding)
  • \n
  • Participate in SAM activities related to migrations, acquisitions, and operational changes under supervision.

  • Maintain documentation, reports, and dashboards related to SAM activities.
  • \n
  • Work closely with cross‑functional teams (IT, Procurement, Finance) to gather required inputs.

  • Participate in continuous learning, training programs, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

  • Basic understanding of Software Asset Management (SAM) and IT Asset Management (ITAM) concepts.

  • Exposure to or understanding of SAM tools such as:

Experience & Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Business, Finance, or a related field.

  • Internship, coursework, or project exposure to IT Asset Management, licensing, or compliance is a plus.
  • \n

Certifications (Optional / Preferred)

  • ITAM / SAM fundamentals certification (preferred, not mandatory).
  • \n
  • Willingness to pursue SAM or licensing certifications as part of career growth.
  • \n

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to HCL policies. In addition, this role is eligible for the following benefits subject to HCL policies: medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, life, accidental death & dismemberment, and disability insurance; employee assistance program; 401(k) retirement plan; 10 days of paid time off (PTO) per year (some positions are eligible for unlimited PTO); and 10 paid holidays per year.
