HR Manager - Maternity Cover

Head Office, Marlow, Bucks ·Fixed-Term Contract (12 months)· Part-time (3 days per week, suggested Tues–Thurs)


The Role

Scamp & Dude is looking for an experienced HR Manager to join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract, covering maternity leave. This is a brilliant opportunity to lead our people strategy at a purpose-driven, fast-growing fashion brand, acting as a strategic partner to our leadership team and championing our culture, values and employee experience throughout the business.

This is a standalone HR role, reporting directly to the COO and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, with accountability for people matters across both our Head Office and Retail functions.


The role is based 3 days per week (suggested Tuesday–Thursday) at our Head Office in Marlow, Bucks. You will need to be able to start mid- October 2026.


What You'll Be Doing

You'll oversee the full employee lifecycle, drive engagement and wellbeing across the business, and ensure HR processes, systems and policies operate effectively, compliantly and in line with our values.


Employee Relations & Performance Management

Lead and manage complex employee relations casework, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, restructures and redundancy

Provide commercially focused, legally compliant HR advice and coaching to managers on all ER matters, ensuring consistency and fairness

Support employees through maternity and other family leave, including entitlements, documentation, phased return plans, risk assessments and workplace adjustments

Manage health-related absence, including Occupational Health referrals and tailored return-to-work plans to support recovery and reduce recurrence


Business Partnering

Act as a strategic and operational HR partner to the Founder, COO and Senior Leadership Team, and a trusted advisor to managers across Head Office and Retail

Build strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders to influence people decisions and strategy

Support organisational design, talent development and succession planning

Support managers and leaders with conversations and decision-making on pay & salary reviews

Lead on goal-setting and performance frameworks, providing clear progression paths and development plans across all roles


Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

Own and deliver end-to-end recruitment across all roles, levels and disciplines - from job design through sourcing, interviews and offer to contract

Oversee onboarding and integration of all new hires, ensuring a seamless experience aligned to our brand and values

Conduct IR35 and employment status checks for freelance and contractor engagements, and manage related contractor documentation


Learning & Development

Own, identify and coordinate relevant training aligned to business needs

Champion a culture of continuous learning and development across the business


Payroll & HR Administration

Work closely with Finance on monthly payroll checks and validation, ensuring accuracy of employee data

Manage peak payroll periods, including annual salary reviews, bonus processing and contractual changes

Maintain accurate employee records, contracts, letters and HR reporting


Engagement, Wellbeing & Culture

Lead the annual employee engagement survey - design, analysis and action planning, presenting results and actions to the leadership team

Use regular pulse surveys to understand employee sentiment and inform culture, engagement and retention strategies

Partner with our Benefits Manager to build and evolve our benefits programme

Nurture a wellbeing-first environment that celebrates individuality, diversity and compassion, supporting mental health and emotional resilience through proactive initiatives

Champion diversity & inclusion, cultivating a positive workplace where all employees feel respected and valued


Policy, Compliance & B Corp

Own and maintain the employee handbook and wider policy suite, regularly reviewing and updating in line with relevant legislation

Work as part of our B Corp Accreditation team, collating information and evidence to support our current B Corp recertification


HR Projects & Reporting

Lead and support HR projects, including salary benchmarking and compensation analysis

Analyse HR data and produce insights to support decision-making across the business


Who We're Looking For

Believes in our vision that fashion can be a force for good

Proven experience in a senior HR Manager role, ideally within fashion, retail or another consumer-facing environment

Strong HR-qualified experience (CIPD Level 5 or above and degree preferred)

Confident and experienced in employee relations and performance management, with a calm, pragmatic approach to complex situations

Analytical mindset with proven project management capability

A people-first leader who can balance head and heart in decision-making

Comfortable being both hands-on and strategic, and not afraid to roll your sleeves up

An excellent communicator who builds trust, brings joy, uplifts others, and can communicate with people at all levels

Excellent working knowledge of employment law & HR regulations

Highly organised with a meticulous eye for detail

Will uphold the ethics, values & culture of the company at all times

Able to commit to the full 12-month term
