Overview
The Business Systems Analyst (Consultant) supports enterprise technology initiatives by bridging business needs, product execution, and technical delivery. This role collaborates with business stakeholders, product teams, engineering, vendors, and implementation partners to analyze processes, define requirements, coordinate delivery, and ensure solutions meet operational goals.
The consultant will contribute across discovery, backlog management, solution definition, system integrations, Agile delivery, testing, and deployment readiness within complex Legal, Safety, and Risk platforms. This role requires strong analytical capabilities, technical acumen, and the ability to drive alignment across cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders, product teams, IT, vendors, and implementation partners to deliver enterprise technology solutions.
- Facilitate discovery sessions, workshops, and stakeholder discussions to gather business objectives and system requirements.
- Conduct end-to-end business analysis including current-state assessment, future-state design, gap analysis, and process optimization.
- Translate business needs into functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, data mappings, and integration specifications.
- Coordinate priorities, dependencies, risks, milestones, and deliverables across multiple workstreams.
- Maintain and manage product backlogs, ensuring items are well-structured, prioritized, and traceable.
- Collaborate with development teams throughout the SDLC to clarify requirements, validate solutions, and ensure business readiness.
- Analyze integrations, data flows, and dependencies across enterprise systems, including APIs, SFTP, middleware, and batch processes.
- Support scalable solution design, security models, and technical alignment with architects and engineers.
- Create process flows, system diagrams, and documentation using tools like Visio, Miro, or Lucidchart.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives.
- Coordinate testing activities including SIT/UAT planning, test case creation, defect management, and validation.
- Perform SQL-based data analysis, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Support vendor coordination, tracking deliverables and ensuring alignment with expectations.
- Prepare documentation, reports, and executive summaries.
- Identify risks, dependencies, and improvement opportunities while ensuring timely resolution.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in Business Analysis, Product Analysis, or Technical Business Analysis roles.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience creating and managing:
- Business Requirements Documents (BRD)
- Functional Requirements Documents (FRD)
- User Stories and Acceptance Criteria
- Process Flows (Current/Future State)
- Data Mapping and Integration Documentation
- Solid understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
- Experience with tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, and Confluence.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise integrations:
- REST APIs, SOAP Web Services
- SFTP, Middleware, Batch Processing
- Data analysis experience:
- SQL, Oracle Databases
- Data Validation, ETL Concepts, Data Migration
- Understanding of security frameworks:
- Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
- SAML SSO
- Identity & Access Management (IAM)
- Role-Based Access Control
Preferred Skills
- Microsoft ecosystem experience:
- Power Platform (Power Apps), SharePoint
- .NET / C#, Azure Services
- Enterprise Content Management systems:
- Document management and automated ingestion/indexing solutions
- Experience with enterprise platforms:
- Risk, Claims, Legal, Compliance, and Safety systems
- Third-party integrations and workflow systems
- Reporting tools:
- Power BI, Tableau
- Legacy system modernization:
- Mainframe or COBOL-based systems
- DevOps awareness:
