Job Description

Title: Technical Product Manager, Data and Internal Products
Location: Remote

Technical PM owning Client''s internal data platform (no customer-facing product), working shoulder-to-shoulder with data science and engineering at a well-funded fintech in the fraud/identity space. Position is Remote.

The #1 filter — must already be BOTH: A real engineer-type and a seasoned PM. Prior engineering title required (SWE, data scientist, ML engineer, or highly technical data analyst). Not an engineer/DS aspiring to move into product, and not a high-level PM trying to get technical. They won''t train either direction. This is where most candidates have been falling short -- they''re fine on high-level PM/project work but can''t hold their own with the head of data science.

Also required:

  • Startup background — current/most-recent role at a startup (
  • Real ownership — owned scope on a small pod (an engineer or two + a data scientist), not splitting PM duties across a big team with other PMs/TPMs.
  • Hands-on data pipeline work — production ingestion, cleaning/normalization, modeling, with specific tools named. Python + AWS required; big-data tooling (Spark, Databricks, BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift) must be explicitly on the resume.

Strong plus (not required): fintech / payments / fraud / identity domain. If they don''t have it, the more technical the product the better (cybersecurity, fintech, AI, heavy-API/data). Judge the technical depth of the work and team, not just whether the company looks technical.

On seniority: No hard years floor anymore. A sharp 3–4 year candidate with executive presence and real ownership beats a 10-year candidate who only executes. Judge the person, not the tenure.

Auto-rejects — don''t submit if:

  • Big-tech or large-enterprise/bank-only experience
  • Traditional PM path with no technical roots (APM → PM → Sr. PM)
  • Technical practitioner with no real PM experience (aspiring PM)
  • AI/ML buzzword-heavy with no data-platform/internal-tooling substance
  • Under 2 years tenure at any role
  • Weak communicator / can''t carry a senior-stakeholder conversation (they interview with the CEO, CTO, and head of DS)
