Job Description

Senior Teamcenter Administrator

Remote

Duration: 12+ Months

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Teamcenter Administrator to own the administration, configuration, and support of enterprise Teamcenter PLM environments for external customers. This role sits within a services delivery organization, so the candidate will work across multiple customer landscapes, support pre-sales and delivery engagements, and act as the technical authority on Teamcenter system health, performance, and upgrades. The ideal candidate combines deep Teamcenter administration expertise with the client-facing maturity expected in a services/consulting environment.

Key Responsibilities

•      Administer and maintain Teamcenter environments (Rich Client, Active Workspace, RAC) including installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades across development, test, and production landscapes.

•      Manage Teamcenter architecture components: 4-tier architecture, Web Tier (Java EE app servers such as WebLogic/WebSphere/Tomcat), Server Manager, Pool Manager, FSC (File Service Client/Server), and Volume Management.

•      Perform database administration tasks in coordination with DBA teams (Oracle/SQL Server) including TC_DATA schema maintenance, backup/restore coordination, and performance tuning.

•      Configure and maintain BMIDE (Business Modeler IDE) customizations, data model extensions, and templates.

•      Manage user administration, security, access control lists (ACLs), roles, groups, and organization structures within Teamcenter.

•      Plan and execute Teamcenter version upgrades, patches, and migrations, including test planning and rollback strategies.

•      Monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and perform root-cause analysis for incidents; manage escalations within SLA-driven support environments.

•      Support integrations between Teamcenter and other enterprise systems (ERP such as SAP, CAD tools like NX/SolidWorks/CATIA, MES, and other PLM-adjacent tools).

•      Develop and maintain system documentation: configuration guides, runbooks, disaster recovery procedures, and change management records.

•      Work directly with clients as part of a services engagement — gathering requirements, advising on best practices, and presenting technical recommendations.

•      Support pre-sales activities including scoping, effort estimation, and technical solutioning for Teamcenter engagements.

•      Mentor and guide junior administrators and support engineers; contribute to internal knowledge bases and delivery playbooks.

•      Ensure compliance with data security, licensing, and audit requirements across managed Teamcenter instances.

Required Qualifications

•      Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

•      Hands-on experience administering Siemens Teamcenter in enterprise environments.

•      Strong expertise in Teamcenter 4-tier architecture, installation, and configuration (Teamcenter 11.x/12.x/13.x or later).

•      Proficiency in BMIDE for data model customization and deployment.

•      Working knowledge of application servers (WebLogic, WebSphere, or Tomcat) and Java EE deployment.

•      Experience with relational databases (Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server) as they relate to Teamcenter.

•      Solid understanding of Teamcenter security model: ACLs, access rules, roles, and organization/group structures.

•      Experience with Teamcenter upgrades, patching, and environment migrations (on-prem and/or cloud).

•      Familiarity with scripting for automation (Shell, Perl, or Python) and Teamcenter utilities (e.g., FMS, TCXML import/export).

•      Experience working in a client services, consulting, or managed-services delivery model, with strong client communication skills.

•      Strong troubleshooting, incident management, and root-cause analysis skills.

Preferred Qualifications

•      Siemens Teamcenter certification(s).

•      Experience with Active Workspace configuration and administration.

•      Exposure to Teamcenter integrations with SAP, NX, or other CAD/ERP systems.

•      Experience with cloud-hosted Teamcenter deployments (Azure/AWS) or containerized environments.

•      ITIL Foundation certification or experience working within ITIL-based support frameworks.

•      Prior experience in a project lead or team lead capacity.

Key Skills

•      Teamcenter Administration & Architecture

•      BMIDE / Data Model Customization

•      Application Server Administration (WebLogic/WebSphere/Tomcat)

•      Database Coordination (Oracle/SQL Server)

•      Security & Access Management (ACLs, Roles, Groups)

•      Client-Facing Communication & Consulting

•      Incident & Problem Management
