Geotechnical EngineerLocation: ReadingSalary: £32,000 - £42,000 + Benefits

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Geotechnical Engineer to join a specialist contractor and consultancy based in Reading. The company has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality geotechnical and ground engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of commercial and residential developments.

This role offers the chance to work on projects from initial site investigation through to design and construction, providing excellent exposure to both consultancy and contracting environments. The Role

As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be involved in a range of geotechnical projects, working closely with clients, contractors, and internal teams to deliver technically sound and commercially viable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and supervising ground investigations.
  • Soil and rock logging to current British Standards.
  • Producing factual and interpretative geotechnical reports.
  • Undertaking foundation design and recommendations.
  • Carrying out slope stability and earthworks assessments.
  • Supporting retaining wall and temporary works design.
  • Liaising directly with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Assisting with project management and commercial aspects of projects.
  • Mentoring junior staff as experience develops.

Requirements

  • Degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience within a geotechnical consultancy or contractor environment.
  • Strong understanding of ground investigation techniques and geotechnical reporting.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
