Senior Mechanical Engineer
Water & Wastewater Sector

A leading UK engineering and infrastructure consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its growing design team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of water and wastewater projects, delivering innovative mechanical design solutions from concept through to construction.
Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you'll play a key role in the delivery of infrastructure and non-infrastructure schemes across the UK water sector. Projects include pumping stations, treatment works, screening systems, chemical dosing installations and sludge handling facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver mechanical designs across feasibility, outline and detailed design stages.
- Produce and review engineering calculations, drawings, technical reports and specifications.
- Develop cost-effective, high-quality engineering solutions aligned with client requirements.
- Coordinate with clients, stakeholders and site teams throughout project delivery.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians.
- Assist with project planning, resource allocation and budget management.
- Support bid activities, site inspections and occasional construction-stage activities.
Requirements
- Experience delivering mechanical design solutions within the water or wastewater industry.
- Knowledge of pumping stations, treatment processes and associated mechanical equipment.
- AutoCAD 2D proficiency.
- Experience using pump selection and pump calculation software.
- Ability to undertake site surveys and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
