Under limited supervision reporting to DOR’s General Counsel, serves as a Business

Analyst responsible for analyzing business needs of our collection team as their duties

relate to the enforcement of South Carolina tax laws. This individual will be responsible

for sharing knowledge of the use of tax data contained in our integrated tax systems to

effectuate successful team collections. In addition, knowledge of the various sections

and their functions within DOR is critical in being able to navigate through the agency

for assistance and support needed. Analyzing and recommending enhancements to

DOR tax systems to provide reports to improve the functionality of the team is also a

responsibility of this analyst. This individual will work with DOR’s upper management

as well as the Director to evaluate and troubleshoot any and all collection issues with

the team, and after analysis of same, provide business solutions. Knowledge in all areas

of taxation administered by DOR is essential to this position, along with expertise in

analyzing specific collection reports generated by our integrated tax systems.

Non-Technical

- Effectively interact and communicate with peer to Director-level IT professionals.

- Work closely with Security and Technology Services staff as needed.

- Must have initiative, drive and be a self-starter.

- Ability to ask pertinent questions of others.

- Proactively seek to identify, communicate and implement process related-

improvements.

- Effectively manage multiple tasks and activities concurrently and able to provide

periodic status updates to key stakeholders within DOR.

- Collaborate extensively with peers and management to resolve collection issues while

actively contributing to a growing knowledge network that improves the effectiveness

of our collections team and the information available to our co-workers and

stakeholders.

- Prioritize numerous issues of varying severity and effectively manage the resolution

of collection accounts taking into consideration time constraints due to expiration of

liens within IT systems.

- Good interpersonal communication skills, be attentive to detail, and responsive to

requests for assistance daily by upper Management and team members.

- Mentor and lead staff members.

Technical

- Troubleshoot and recommend solutions and/or enhancements for collections data

regarding various collection reports generated by our integrated tax systems.

- Recommend new reports that will enhance success of the team to identify debtors

through tax systems.

- Maintain familiarity with current computer systems to perform detailed account

reviews and maintain any required IT training for updates.

- Adhere to corporate information security guidelines and promote information security

among team members.

- Performs other duties and special projects assigned pertaining to tax systems.
