Job Description
Job Title: Technical Writer Security Products
Location: San Jose, CA or United States
Summary:
This role requires close collaboration with engineering teams. Candidates should be
comfortable working in lab environments and interpreting technical data.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain detailed end-user documentation for security products.
- Collaborate with engineering, product management, and customer support teams to
gather technical information and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Create installation guides, release notes, and other user content.
- Organize and present complex technical information in a clear, concise, and logical
manner for various personas (end users, installers, and support staff).
- Edit and update existing documentation to reflect product updates and new features.
- Follow company standards and templates for technical writing and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, Computer Science, or a
related field.
- Proven experience writing security documentation for networking products (minimum 4
years preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (Ethernet, TCP/IP, VLANs, etc.).
- Proficient in authoring tools such as Oxygen XML, Markdown, or similar.
- Experience with project management and issue-tracking platforms like Atlassian Jira.
- Experience working in cross-functional technical teams.
- Experience with content management systems like Adobe Experience Manager or
similar.
- Experience in transforming content to be AI-ready, enabling customers to find
information quickly and easily. The writer must apply Cisco's AI strategy to content.
