Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a proactive, level-headed and professional Security Officer to help protect our visitors, employees, buildings and assets while delivering excellent customer service.

As a visible and approachable member of the security team, you will welcome and assist visitors, enforce site security procedures and respond appropriately to incidents. The successful candidate will be polite, vigilant and dependable, with the confidence to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally.

  • Conduct regular foot and mobile patrols of designated internal and external areas, maintaining a visible and effective security presence.
  • Monitor access points and help prevent unauthorised entry.
  • Welcome employees, contractors, guests and visitors, ensuring they follow the required security procedures.
  • Conduct searches and contractor permit checks in accordance with client requirements.
  • Monitor CCTV from the control room, review incident footage and provide appropriate advice and guidance.
  • Respond to alarms and dispatched calls, assess situations and take appropriate action to resolve security concerns.
  • Manage conflict calmly and professionally, using de-escalation techniques whenever possible.
  • Maintain accurate shift logs and incident reports, promptly communicating any irregularities to management.
  • Enforce site rules, regulations and safety procedures.
  • Liaise with local law enforcement and emergency services when required.
  • Complete locking and unlocking duties at properties across the site.
  • Address parking-related issues.
  • Operate and maintain security equipment and vehicles safely and responsibly.
  • Provide helpful, professional assistance to employees, contractors, guests and visitors.
  • Support the Supervisor with campus engagement activities.

Physical and Working Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
  • Availability to work both day and night shifts.
  • Flexibility regarding the duration of the temporary assignment and the required shift pattern.

Shifts may operate on a rotating schedule. for example, three day shifts followed by three night shifts and three days off. This pattern is provided as an illustration only and is not guaranteed. Applicants must therefore be flexible and able to accommodate changes according to operational requirements.

Pay rate: £14.00 per hour
Contract type: Temporary
Shift pattern: Flexible, including days and nights
