Title                 Java Backend Developer

Location          Hybrid – (Newark, NJ or NYC,NY) based preferred, client is in Newark, so commutable to that location, onsite 2-3 days per week ideally. Remaining days will be remote. Flexible with being onsite

Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Developer with 6-7 years of experience building scalable, cloud-native applications.
Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build scalable, event-driven systems using Apache Kafka.
• Design and implement modular, maintainable application architectures using Modulith principles.
• Develop and deploy applications on AWS using cloud-native services. -Write clean, testable, and production-ready code.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical design decisions.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve application performance and reliability.
• Adopt AI-assisted development practices for code generation, testing, documentation, and productivity improvements.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, DevOps, and QA teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Required Skills

• 6-7+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java 11/17+ and Spring Boot.
• Experience with REST APIs and microservices-based systems. -Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services such as ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, and CloudWatch. Experience implementing Modular Monolith (Modulith) architecture patterns.
• Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Strong understanding of system design, scalability, security, and performance optimization. -Experience with Git and modern software engineering practices.
• The role requires strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Kafka, and modern backend architecture patterns including Modular Monolith (Modulith).
• The ideal candidate is comfortable using AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity, code quality, and delivery speed.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with AI-driven development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, Amazon Q, or similar platforms.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or OpenTelemetry.
• Experience in financial services, payments, or high-volume transaction systems.
