Job Description

Position Title: IT Support Desk Specialist

Location: Washington, DC

Duration: 1 Year plus 2 Year of Extension

  • Schedule: Monday Friday, eight-hour day, 40 hours per week (1,920 hours per year). No remote or hybrid option.
  • Term: One-year assignment beginning on or about 28 September 2026, with two option years through September 2029.

Job Description:

  • Hiring one IT Support Desk Specialist to provide onsite end-user support for the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) on the Executive Office of the President campus in Washington, DC.
  • You will be the onsite support presence for up to 127 staff - summer interns through senior leadership. The work is hands-on and visible: coaching people on SharePoint, standing up meeting rooms, managing loaner equipment, and closing deskside tickets without escalating every call.

What You Will Do:

  • SharePoint Support: Train staff on SharePoint. Help migrate files into libraries. Build and support libraries, lists, calendars, and other collaboration apps. Update shared sites as directed.
  • Meetings and Events: Prepare audio/visual for video teleconferences, webinars, teleconferences, and in-person meetings. Manage event printing. Issue and recover loaner laptops, keyboards, mice, speakers, pointers, and cables.
  • Equipment Support: Follow agency asset-management procedures. Set up equipment for new personnel. Recover and store gear from departing staff. Maintain rotational equipment pools.
  • Deskside Support: Answer calls and walk-ups. Troubleshoot printing, network access, and everyday Office issues. Coordinate with government IT staff. Support customers from intern to senior official.

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. citizenship. This position is not open to green-card holders, visa holders, or candidates who require sponsorship.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Live in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and commute onsite five days a week to 17th Street NW.
  • Available to start on or about 28 September 2026.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Working fluency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) in a support role.
  • Hands-on deskside or Tier-1 experience: printing, account lockouts, network access, walk-up and phone support.
  • SharePoint experience beyond uploading files - libraries, lists, calendars, permissions, file migration, and/or staff training.
  • Meeting, video-teleconference, webinar, or conference-room setup experience, including loaner equipment.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level I certification in hand, or the ability to obtain one promptly: CompTIA A+ CE, CompTIA Network+ CE, (ISC) SSCP, or Cisco CCNA-Security.
  • Eligible to receive a Top-Secret clearance. Must complete a drug test, FBI background investigation, and customer suitability screening.
  • Professional presence with senior officials and walk-up customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Public Trust, Secret, or Top-Secret clearance - or a recent federal background investigation that can be recycled.
  • IAT Level I certification already in hand, with certificate number and expiration date.
  • Prior deskside work on a federal campus.
  • SharePoint site-owner or power-user experience, including permissions, views, and end-user training.
  • IT asset tracking, loaner-pool, or onboarding/offboarding equipment experience.
  • Both CompTIA A+ and Network+. Associate's or Bachelor's degree. Section 508 awareness.
