Automation Engineer

Rolls Royce Motor Cars seeks an Automation Engineer to enhance manufacturing systems for ultra luxury vehicles in Goodwood. You will design, program, and optimize automated production lines, robotics, and PLC based controls to improve quality, throughput, and safety. Responsibilities include troubleshooting equipment, integrating sensors and data acquisition, and collaborating with production, quality, and maintenance teams. You'll support continuous improvement, implement predictive maintenance, and ensure compliance with safety and automotive standards in a craftsmanship driven, precision focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and program automation and control systems for manufacturing lines
• Configure and maintain PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and motion control systems
• Troubleshoot and resolve automation and equipment issues to minimize downtime
• Integrate sensors, data acquisition, and monitoring for quality and performance
• Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance on process improvements
• Implement and support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, schematics, and standards
• Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and automotive manufacturing standards
• Support predictive and preventative maintenance strategies for automated systems
• Participate in commissioning, testing, and validation of new equipment and upgrades
