IT Support Engineer Fyfield, Oxfordshire Full Time £30,000 £35,000 per annum

Our client, based in Fyfield, Oxfordshire, has been providing efficient IT solutions to businesses for over 30 years.

They are passionate about the people, technology, innovation and creativity around which their business is based and are currently looking to expand their team.

The Role

They are seeking a proactive IT Support Engineer to join their IT team, with hands-on experience supporting a network infrastructure.

The successful candidate will be an escalation point for issues that 1st line support cannot resolve, with a particular focus on networking, security and connectivity. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting and wants to deepen their infrastructure and network experience within a Cisco/Fortinet environment.

The role is based full-time at their Fyfield office, providing remote support to clients, with travel to client sites across Oxfordshire and nationally. The role will involve client support, configuration of hardware/software, repairs and preventative maintenance.

You will need to be extremely customer-focused, professional and confident when communicating with clients, supporting their clients across over 400 locations nationwide, the majority of whom are located in Oxfordshire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide IT support to clients across a range of locations
  • Act as an escalation point for issues that 1st line support cannot resolve
  • Diagnose and resolve connectivity issues across LANs, WANs, VLANs and site-to-site/client VPNs
  • Support wireless infrastructure
  • Carry out patching, firmware updates, backups and basic server maintenance
  • Configure and support network hardware and software
  • Complete repairs and preventative maintenance
  • Document network configurations, topology diagrams and troubleshooting procedures
  • Liaise with 3rd line support and vendors on complex escalations
  • Contribute to IT projects such as office moves, network upgrades and router/switch rollouts
  • Adhere to procedures, IT security policies and best practices
  • Provide professional and customer-focused support to clients

Requirements

Essential

  • Networking TCP/IP and connectivity, with knowledge of routers, switches and firewalls
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving connectivity issues across LANs, WANs, VLANs and site-to-site/client VPNs
  • Experience supporting wireless infrastructure
  • Experience with patching, firmware updates, backups and basic server maintenance
  • Experience documenting network configurations, topology diagrams and troubleshooting procedures
  • Ability to liaise with 3rd line support and vendors for complex escalations
  • Experience contributing to IT projects such as office moves, network upgrades or router/switch rollouts
  • Understanding of IT security policies and best practices
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Experience in networking implementation, diagnosis and IT security
  • Customer-focused, professional and confident when communicating with clients

Desirable

  • Server administration experience
  • Windows Hyper-V virtualisation experience
  • Intune, Apple or Meraki MDM experience
  • Experience supporting Apple devices
  • Experience with backup technologies and disaster recovery
  • Experience working within Cisco/Fortinet environments
