Position Summary

\n

We are seeking a hosting engineer to join a large-scale healthcare infrastructure separation program. The program is transitioning from technical design into platform technical readiness across hosting and application workstreams. This role provides dedicated, hands-on hosting coverage as application-owner engagement and technical validation work increases.

\n\n

Program Context

\n

The client is separating its infrastructure from a former parent health system in a phased model: infrastructure decouple, network cutover, then identity and operational transition. Applications are being rebuilt rather than lifted and shifted, so most per-application decisions center on long-term data ownership and identity handling, not simple server migration.

\n

Technical documentation supplied by a third-party systems integrator has required significant independent validation. Application owners and technical teams are being engaged directly to confirm real hosting requirements, which has created a steady volume of technical questions that need a fully engaged hosting resource to manage.

Key Responsibilities

\n\n

Hosting and Application Workstream Support

\n

\n
• Serve as the embedded hosting subject matter expert fielding day-to-day technical questions from application owners and workstream leads
\n
• Validate and reconcile vendor-supplied technical documentation against actual infrastructure and hosting requirements, flagging gaps or inaccuracies
\n
• Determine appropriate future-state hosting for each application in coordination with data ownership and identity decisions
\n
• Represent hosting in cross-workstream planning as the program moves from technical design into platform readiness
\n

\n

Compute Sizing and TCO

\n

\n
• Right-size compute resources at the workload level as part of future-state hosting decisions, translating application requirements into concrete instance and resource specifications
\n
• Build total cost of ownership models for hosting options to support platform and vendor ownership decisions
\n

\n

Storage Discovery and Strategy

\n

\n
• Participate in storage discovery analysis (Diskover or similar tooling), helping scope the analysis toward attached storage requirements that matter for migration planning
\n
• Support storage strategy for a research computing environment as a track distinct from general enterprise IT, including clarifying ownership between cloud platform teams and research/enterprise stakeholders
\n
• Track open scope questions on existing storage platforms as part of the discovery process
\n

\n

Cloud Ownership and Platform Alignment

\n

\n
• Help determine the right organizational owner for cloud-hosted workloads and vendor relationships where ownership is not yet settled
\n
• Partner with the network team to ensure network design decisions stay consistent with hosting and storage requirements
\n

\n

Required Experience

\n

\n
• 5+ years in cloud infrastructure or hosting engineering roles, with direct AWS and/or Azure experience
\n
• Experience with enterprise storage platforms and migration tooling (NetApp, Isilon, or similar); storage discovery tooling experience a plus
\n
• Experience right-sizing compute workloads and building TCO or cost models to support cloud hosting decisions
\n
• Track record working directly with application owners to validate technical requirements, including in environments with incomplete or inconsistent source documentation
\n
• Healthcare or other regulated-industry infrastructure experience strongly preferred
\n
