Senior Java Backend Developer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Backend Engineer with 10+ years of hands-on experience in Java development and a strong background in retail or eCommerce environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, relational databases, and enterprise backend application development. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining highly scalable, reliable, and secure backend services supporting business-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Design and implement microservices-based architectures for enterprise applications.
• Develop secure and scalable RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Work with relational databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
• Perform database schema design, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Develop and maintain integrations with internal and external enterprise systems.
• Work with ORM technologies such as Hibernate/JPA.
• Develop unit and integration tests using JUnit and Mockito and follow TDD practices where applicable.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Work with Maven or Gradle and Git-based version control.
• Develop and deploy containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Work with messaging platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, DevOps engineers, QA teams, and other technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to cloud-based application development and deployment across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform environments.
• Troubleshoot production issues and ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability of backend services.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, with strong hands-on Java development.
• Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong knowledge of Spring Framework, including Spring MVC, Spring Data, and Spring Security.
• Proven experience designing and developing microservices architectures.
• Strong experience developing RESTful APIs.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
• Experience with database schema design, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Strong experience with Hibernate/JPA.
• Experience with Maven and/or Gradle.
• Strong experience with Git and modern software development practices.
• Experience with JUnit and Mockito and unit/integration testing.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software engineering principles.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Domain Experience

Retail / eCommerce experience is strongly preferred.
