Job Description

Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer I
Duration: 10 Months
Location: Atlanta, GA

Job Description

The engineer will provide technical services in support of the Power Resiliency program as part of the GES Sustainability & Automation department.

Work will be concentrated on the planning, design, commissioning, and operational support of electrical infrastructure, backup power systems, and energy resiliency solutions across the client's distribution network, with a specific focus on NACF and NASC.

The following paragraphs describe each applicable service area in detail.

Playbook Development and Equipment Validation

The worker will assist in the development of site-specific plans for backup generation implementation called playbooks.

This will include both client-specific teams as well as contractors and utilities. The worker will assist in obtaining site-specific information for the playbook and establishing communication with all supporting entities while utilizing internal systems to track progress, create depositories, and identify any gaps experienced during the ramp-up of the new system.

Examples of expected work include obtaining engineering drawings, line diagrams, and specifications from client-owned resources.

Maintaining active points of contact for sites, contractors, and utilities.

The worker will also coordinate with client site-specific leadership, such as Reliability and Maintenance Engineering (RME) and Operations personnel as needed to facilitate visits, equipment availability, and obtain permission to enter/unlock spaces as required.

Planned Backup Power Generation Process Development

For backup power systems, the worker will support the ramp-up of an AMZL, NACF, NASC, or combination of business units for planning, deployment, and operation of backup power generation across their specific portion of the network.

This will include developing and stewarding software systems to effectively manage data and track initiatives, assets, and report problems. This will include communication of status, risks, and blockers to applicable parties in real time.

During major events (Prime, Peak, Summer/Winter storm season), the worker will assist in the execution of power resiliency plans and processes.

Unplanned Backup Power Generation Process Development

For unplanned backup power generation needs, the worker will assist in the coordination required to get generation to a site or get onsite backup generation operable.

This will include communication with the site, client personnel, contractors, and utilities.

For time periods where generation assets are staged, the worker will assist in coordinating the deployment of assets as directed by the engagement manager and their direct reports.

Documentation, Administration, and Reporting

As the power resiliency team establishes a holistic process for both planned and unplanned events, the worker will be expected to provide administrative support for ongoing process development.

Documentation and reporting responsibilities include providing inputs for reporting and tracking software as required, assisting in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), utilizing internal tools for obtaining information or reporting problems, and working with external vendors to obtain required information.

It will also include the analysis of data used to support white paper development and other leadership-focused deliverables for executive decision-making.

Vendor & Contractor Interaction

The worker will coordinate with contractors, vendors, and utility providers to obtain required information and permissions related to site visits, equipment access, technical specifications, and any other scope related to the development of power resiliency processes, procedures, and reporting mechanisms.

The worker will also assist in resolving administrative issues related to requisitions and purchase orders.

All actions should be administrative in nature and should not direct an entity outside of the client to perform any work not previously approved.
