Job description

Full Stack .NET Developer – Accessibility / WCAG 2.1 AA

Location: Remote — Iowa candidates preferred
Duration: 8+ months, with potential extension or full-time conversion
Interview: Webcam or in-person, as required

Job Overview

Accessibility is a primary engineering requirement for this role—not an optional skill.

We are seeking a senior-level Full Stack .NET Developer who combines strong C#/.NET development with front-end engineering, UI/UX implementation, and hands-on web accessibility expertise.

The ideal candidate can build enterprise applications while independently implementing WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 accessibility standards throughout the development lifecycle. You must understand accessible design patterns, identify and remediate accessibility defects, and validate interfaces using tools such as JAWS and axe.

You will work with enterprise design systems, modern front-end practices, and established .NET applications to deliver secure, responsive, usable, and accessible digital services.

Candidates must demonstrate formal accessibility training, practical WCAG implementation experience, enterprise design-system experience, and a portfolio or code samples showing front-end/UI work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 standards across enterprise web applications.

  • Test and remediate accessibility issues using JAWS, axe, and other accessibility testing tools.

  • Build accessible, responsive interfaces using HTML5, CSS, Sass, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and Material.

  • Develop and maintain applications using .NET, C#, MVC, and Web Forms where applicable.

  • Translate UI/UX designs into usable, accessible, production-ready components.

  • Work independently within enterprise design systems and apply consistent accessibility patterns.

  • Develop and maintain REST APIs, middleware integrations, and SQL Server components.

  • Manage source control, deployments, and CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.

  • Troubleshoot production issues and follow secure coding practices when handling sensitive data.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on .NET and C# development experience combined with front-end engineering.

  • Formal WCAG accessibility training and demonstrated hands-on implementation of WCAG 2.1 AA.

  • Practical experience testing and remediating accessibility issues using tools such as JAWS and axe.

  • Strong HTML5, CSS, Sass, and JavaScript skills.

  • UI/UX implementation experience, including responsive design, usability principles, and accessible interaction patterns.

  • Experience working within an enterprise design system—not just Bootstrap or another component library.

  • Recent experience with modern development frameworks and practices within the last three years.

  • Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD, SQL Server, APIs, and middleware.

  • Experience supporting enterprise production applications and handling sensitive data.

  • A portfolio or code samples demonstrating both front-end/UI work and development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • DHS Trusted Tester, IAAP WAS, CPACC, or equivalent accessibility certification or training.

  • Experience supporting government or healthcare applications.

  • Exposure to Angular, GitHub, AWS, and legacy application modernization.

  • A degree in Computer Science, HCI, Design, or a related field; equivalent professional experience is acceptable.

Application Requirement

Accessibility expertise must be demonstrated, not simply listed on a resume. Candidates must be able to discuss their WCAG 2.1 AA implementation experience, accessibility testing methods, defect remediation, and enterprise design-system work.

Code samples or a portfolio showing front-end and UI work are mandatory with every submission. Backend-focused .NET developers without practical accessibility and front-end experience will not meet the core requirements.
