Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Java Enterprise / Backend Software Engineer to join our team in a hybrid capacity. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Java/J2EE, Spring ecosystem, REST and SOAP services, distributed systems, and application performance and a proven ability to design, build, test, and deliver scalable, compliant, and secure software for high-volume applications.

Position Summary

Individual contributor responsible for developing and delivering complex software requirements to accomplish business goals within high-volume, distributed environments.

Responsibilities:

• Develop software that meets functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements.


• Design, code, and unit test solutions with clear, robust, and well-tested interfaces for seamless integration.


• Apply development and testing practices for web applications.


• Contribute to story refinement and requirement definition.


• Estimate work across the delivery lifecycle and guide the team on approach and effort.


• Perform spikes and proofs of concept to mitigate risk and validate ideas.


• Build REST and SOAP services leveraging multiple architectural components across data, application, and business layers.


• Troubleshoot and resolve technical complexities during story implementation.


• Contribute to integration, regression, and performance test suites; analyze reports and triage issues.


• Document and communicate deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality details.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience building high-volume applications using Java/J2EE and Spring MVC.


• Proficiency with Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Integration, Spring MVC, and Spring Data JPA.


• Strong understanding of RESTful services and SOAP web services with XML and JSON.


• Front-end familiarity with Handlebars, Vue, and ReactJS.


• Experience with XML and JSON binding libraries such as JAXB, Jackson, and Gson.


• Unit testing with JUnit and contribution to automated test suites.


• Proficiency with Git, Maven, Artifactory, and an IDE such as Eclipse or equivalent; experience with Bitbucket and branching/merge strategies.


• Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.


• Familiarity with messaging queues such as WebSphere MQ or ActiveMQ; performance tuning with knowledge of JVM internals.


• Experience with Groovy and object-oriented programming concepts.


• Background in distributed systems development using Java/J2EE/web technologies and Java design patterns.


• Experience with defensive programming and application security practices.


• Familiarity with coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Cursor.

Preferred Skills:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related field.


• 5+ years of hands-on software development experience.


• Exposure to Agile methodologies and collaborative delivery practices.


• Ability to communicate technology solutions to technical, business, and management stakeholders.


• Strong interpersonal and analytical skills to clarify requirements and solve problems.
