Job Description
A leading structural steel specialist is currently looking for a permanent, full-time Senior Project Manager in London, reporting to the UK Construction Director. The role oversees structural steel installation projects from planning through to completion, managing timelines, budgets, safety, subcontractors, contractual obligations and client communications, with the opportunity to progress into more advanced positions within the company.

Salary: £85,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent, full-time

Duties:
- Plan and coordinate the project team to oversee all aspects of structural steel installation projects
- Manage and deliver project timelines, ensuring key milestones and deadlines are met on programme
- Lead with clearly communicated lookahead plans, cascaded to both the project team and site team
- Visual planning through model and 2D drawing mark-ups
- Organise trades well in advance of mobilising
- Coordinate with clients, engineers, designers and site personnel to ensure clear communication and project alignment
- Lead and coordinate project documentation, including contracts, schedules, work packages, RFIs and change orders
- Lead the project team through constructability and method statements to align internal stakeholders
- Monitor project costs, budgets and financial forecasts
- Lead site meetings and report on progress to stakeholders, both internally and to the client
- Ensure all internal and external project reporting is completed as per project requirements
- Ensure health, safety and environmental compliance across all sites through the project team
- Oversee quality control, ensuring work is completed to specifications and standards, including project handover
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers to meet deadlines and quality expectations
- Resolve site issues and technical challenges promptly, working through problems with the client and project team via Teams calls and direct contact
- Support the commercial team on scope items
- Act as the link between the project and the workshop team
- Maintain detailed daily and weekly records and project documentation
- Be the project lead with a continuous and reliable presence on site
- Review and manage ITPs
- Ensure O&M manuals and associated handovers are delivered on time
Requirements:
- Previous London project experience (Essential)
- Proven experience (5+ years) as a Project Manager in structural steel, steel erection or heavy construction
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong track record of delivering projects to a high standard
- In-depth knowledge of steel construction methods, materials and site operations
- Strong understanding of structural drawings, shop drawings and erection plans
- Experience with project planning tools such as Asta Project or Primavera P6
- Competent in contract administration and financial control, coordinating with the QS
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Proficient with Trimble and Trimble Connect
- Proficient with PDF mark-up (Bluebeam) to cascade requirements or constructability
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites
- CSCS/SMSTS certification
- Reliable and dependable
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field (Desirable)
- NEBOSH or IOSH Health & Safety certification (Desirable)
- Familiarity with BIM and steel detailing software such as Tekla Structures (Desirable)
- Experience with crane lifts and heavy steel logistics planning (Desirable)
